Effectiveness and Efficiency Analysis of Education Systems in EU Countries Employing Secondary Big Data

DATA FOR LITHUANIA

In the project EFECTAS, we used individual-level data on the total population of Lithuanian secondary school students who took the maturity exams in 2014–2018. We do not analyze data from vocational school.

The achievements of two examinations (mathematics; Lithuanian language and literature) 10th grade and Matura with contextual information at the student and school level were analyzed.

Data were provided by the Education Management Information System of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports (EMIS, Lit. ŠVIS). EMIS has a separate data set for each exam and such data has been obtained by the project researchers.

To assess student progress and the predictive power of PUPP in VBE, data from recent exams were pooled for those who held both PUPP and VBE. On the basis of these merged data sets, three articles have been published (see Publications) and papers have been presented at international conferences (see Conferences).

For further usability of the databases merged and prepared in the project, contact the National Education Agency (https://www.nsa.smm.lt) as the data owner.

INTERNATIONAL SURVEY DATA

In the project we used data from TIMSS, PIRLS and PISA surveys, that data is publicly available from https://ilsa-gateway.org.

EU education systems have been compared on the basis of the ET2020 target indicators available in the Eurostat database https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/web/education-and-training/eu-benchmarks
